Torg will also recap this a bit in tomorrow's comic. Or be there and relive Chapter 52!
Again, everything Torg recaps in panel two happened in Chapter 52!

Pete Says: I regret to inform you all, This is the last official Chain Bear Sunday! :( I had to fire them because I was sick and tired of putting up with their lack of ability to spell "honor" and "color" as well as other words.
Stuart Says: Honestly Pete (and Sluggites), it's been an honour - Sluggy was the first webcomic I ever read and is still my favourite, so thank you for letting us get involved! To those who saw us passing by - I hope we brought some colour to your Sundays! Lots of love, Stuart and Lauren.
Pete Retorts: See what I mean? I and I thought *I* was bad at spelling. Stuart, Lauren, You guys have been fantastic to work with and you're welcome back anytime, and I mean that. Little black bowler hats off to you!
Full version of the banner I debuted at the con last weekend!
I know were losing our cultural touchstones and all, yet if you dont know what Im parodying, I am Jack's smirking revenge and cant help you. Oh, plus "U2"!

Welcome to Portraits Week! Ive been playing around with Photoshop painting over the last few weeks and have decided to run some of my projects this week while I gear up to work on the next Sluggy Freelance book. This Sasha portrait is my second attempt. Youll see my first attempt on Friday. I 'painted' on top of a pencil sketch that I ran on the site but I dont have the link to that sketch handy. I hope someone will put the link in the reactions forums.
This is my third attempt at Photoshop painting. I think this came out better than the Sasha portrait, but something about the squareness of the head makes Aylee less feminine than I had wanted. I also think the glowing eyes could have been handled in a more sophisticated way. Still, every time I do one of these, I'm learning more about the painting process. And that's worth the journey no matter the results. Again, this was from a pencil sketch somewhere on the site, and I hope someone will put the link in the reactions forums.
My fourth attempt is Izzy. My painting play started before introducing her character, so when I was designing her I decided to sketch her and then paint her. this is my second favorite painting of the week, and I think I learned the most from it.
My fifth attempt is Gwynn. In this case I painted over most of the pencil lines, but I'm much more deft with a pencil than I am with a mouse or wacom pen. That made the linework on this one much more blunt and blurred. But I'm happy with the way I was able to bring a variety of colors into it instead of just logical skin-tone choices and still have it read, even if I didn't do Gwynn's beauty justice. Again, this was from a pencil sketch somewhere on the site, and I hope someone will put the link in the reactions forums.
Happy Friday! Here was my first attempt that fueled me doing this series of paintings. It was a quick goof-around with my old and dusty wacom tablet, but there's something about it I absolutely love. And even though I learned much from the other four 'paintings', this one is still my favorite of the week. Of course there are two more pieces of art for this Sluggy week! And Monday brings 4U City Blue!
You didn't think I'd leave the guys out did you? Pardon me while I get artsy and do a portrait of the original stick-figure sidekick, Shirt Guy Tom, with "Stick in Repose"! I will never be able to draw stick figures as bad as Tom but I shall never stop trying!
BOO! Sorry, Book 10 work has put me in a ghostly place! I just finished this one ten minutes before update, a portrait of Beth (the sobbing woman) from Kesandru House! I'll probably drop this into Book 10 if I need to fill an extra page as I'm not sure how long the bonus story will be (IF there is one, but my guess is there will)!

I don't think I really captured Gwynn in this scribbly sketch but heck, I guess they all can't be winners! ;)
FYI I don't consider this comic in any way "spoilers" (I wouldn't do that) but it might seem like it to anyone who is not caught up with LOST. Anywho don't worry, it isn't.
Here's the T-shirt I designed for ConQuesT! And I must say the shirt came out great!
This was an alternate color scheme I designed for ConQuesT. I kinda liked this color scheme better but people almost universally preferred the blue-shirt version.
I almost forgot occasional mandatory product-placement plug!
Hey everybody! Im really sorry about having to run filler art today. I went camping this weekend and left early thinking Id have plenty of time and energy to finish the 50% completed strip targeted for today, but it turns out I am just energy-depleted. Still, getting out in the fresh air was good for me, right? Anywho I know many of you are impatient with this story after 4U City Blues intensity. I will keep that in mind as I try to move the story ahead briskly.
And yes, I doodled Elvis on thee side of the log with a fire-burned stick for no good reason and liked it so much I took a picture of it, having no idea it would end up here.
I dont necessarily like this sketch but I do like elements of it. It just doesnt feel like Sasha to me. Maybe this is what she looks like when something actually bothers her.
And heres where I do a quick Fourth of July treatment to yesterdays sketch so I can spend more time cooking hamburgers! Im lame! Happy Fourth Everybody!

BOO! Hey guys! I'm busy behind the scenes working on the bonus story for the upcoming book 10. Here's a background image I'm working on. It's not a spoiler but it is a tease on the setting of the Book 10 Bonus story. Defenders have already seen the first page! ;) Tomorrow you'll see the finish assuming I can get it done!
My kids left their crayons out so I stole 'em! ;)
Yes, she was totally wearing a Ranma 1/2 shirt in her first apperance!
I found this old doodle of Halloween-ish looking Gwynn. Forgive me if I posted this before!

This is a photo of a Sketch I gave to a Sluggite at InterventionCon. The reason for Torg in the Cheese-head hat has to do with the bonus story for Book 10. Anywho I was going to submit it for the Intervention Charity Auction but the con cat-herder requested the sketch I submit for the auction be more InterventionCon related.
Sorry for the blurry photo! So heres yesterdays sketch updated to relate to InterventionCons Owl theme and used in their charity auction. Ref: See also Tandoori Owl.

ACK! Emergency filler! I was computer deprived all day and too exhausted in the evening to finish the more involved elements of tomorrow's comic. I know, emergency out-of-the-blue filler sucks, which is why it hardly ever happens anymore. Give me this one day's reprieve and I promise much plot-moving in tomorrow's strip!
This weekend (per request): the screen shots from Crushestro's phone! Hopefully YOUR phone will be smart enough to use one of these as wallpaper. Or maybe it's too smart to fall for that.

In regards to yesterday's comic, thanks to all the ponderings in the reactions thread, I have to clearly state the following. The man chained to the wall in the Minion Master outfit is, in fact, the original Minion Master battling sodium chloride with Riff back in the day, and he is not any character we have seen before. The female "fake" minion master is a hereti-corp agent of no known significance that you may have seen here or there, but definitely here (frog masseuse). After so many years I find myself running out of unique tags for new characters. I blame myself.
Speaking of "in regards to yesterday's comic," there shall be reference links for today's strip tomorrow. Sometimes I just roll like that.

It's fitting that the pre-Halloween comic freaked me out to create. Those poor minions! In any case lots of good reactions in the reactions forum, many wondering about the potential inconsistency with Jane's speech in the December 18th '07 comic, to which I answer "give me until Tuesday's comic to explain."

Hey! This comic was shorter than I had planned but with me being sick and going into a four day weekend, believe me you wouldnt want the next part as a potential tortuous cliff-hanger! Youll see Monday. Youre welcome! Have a great thanksgiving everybody!
OK I know all this just happened but it was a long weekend, so... Refs: Bringing Curshestro | The Setup | The Previous Puns.
You know, I don't think I did a good enough job of establishing the locked door to the "cage", but you can see it clearly in this comic.
